Rebel Threads: Clothing of the bad, beautiful & misunderstood/ Roger K. Burton, 2017.

“Once upon a time, to be young meant you got to cast yourself in the movie of your own life. Rather than prioritising what job if you were lucky you might end up getting, you got to decide instead what kind of human being you wanted to be.

Whether you were you a Beat, a Mod, a Hippie or a Punk, you became part of a defiant youth tribe which defined itself around the potential of what you could be.”

“Fashionpedia is a visual fashion dictionary covering all the technical terms from style to material to production with illustrations and infographics. It encompasses rich, extensive information and yet is so easy to read. Whether you’re an industry insider or a fashion connoisseur, Fashionpedia is all you’ll ever need to navigate the fashion scene.”

The art of manipulating fabric/ Collette Wolff. Krause, 1996.

The art of manipulating fabric/ Collette Wolff. Krause, 1996.

“The possibilities for three-dimensional manipulation of fabric – gathering, pleating, tucking, shirring, and quilting woven materials – are seemingly endless. To describe them all would be to describe the entire history of sewing.

In The Art of manipulating Fabric, Colette Wolff has set herself just this task, and she succeeds brilliantly. Working from the simplest possible form – a flat piece of cloth and a threaded needle – she categorizes all major dimensional techniques, show how they are related, and give examples of variations both traditional and modern. The result is an encyclopedia of techniques that resurface, reshape, restructure and reconstruct fabric.”

“Algorithmic design is not simply the use of computer to design architecture and objects. Algorithms allow designers to overcome the limitations of traditional CAD software and 3D modelers, reaching a level of complexity and control which is beyond the human manual ability.  Algorthims-Aided Design presents design methods bases on the use of Grasshoper, a visual algorithm editor tightly integrated with Rhinoceros,  the 3D modeling software by McNeel & Associates allowing users to explore accurate freeform shapes. The book provides computational techniques to develop and control complex geometries, covering parametric modeling, digital fabrication techniques, form-finding strategies, environmental analysis and structural optimization. It also features case studies and contributions by researchers and designers from world’s most influential universities and leading architecture firms”
